Yes, that's correct. Actually that's one of the more clever features of 
Director -- if the extension of something isn't recognized by Director 
on import (or filename) it seems top try to interpret it. Dir851 on 
OSX/Classic does this with media types it can't recognize -- passes 
them through the QT translation. OLE/ActiveX on Win is the equivalent.

Long and short is change the media type to something Director thinks it 
can recognize and you'll be fine.
