here's the 30 second demo:
put the xml file next to the movie

getNetText ((the moviePath) & "your.xml")
member("field") = netTextresult()

& that's as designed -
set the filename destroys any existing member & then Dir guesses what .XML is.

For example, try setting the filename on a linked bitmap to a 
soundfile - the bitmap gets blown away ...
