Hi all,

This one has been driving us crazy for a long time, and I can't seem to find
any reference to it on the web... Here it goes!!

Machine: Win 2000 & XP, QT 6.3, Dir 8.5.1 & MX
Problem: If a QuickTime movie (regardless of the codec) has an overall path
length greater than 128 characters then it won't play from Director. It will
play with QuickTime Player though.

By overall path length I mean e.g. ("C:\Program
Files\<Company>\<Product>\<Course>\Content\QuickTimeMovie.mov").chars.count
> 128

Whilst experimenting, I exported the movie with the MPEG4 codec - no avail.
Then I change the file extension from *.mov to *.mp4, and D8.5.1 wouldn't
import it. DMX however WOULD, and played it with QuickTime!!!

I also tried feeding Director with the shortfilename (which is less than 128
chars), but that didn't work either :(

This is really a pain for us, sometimes you'll get a client calling saying
that they created a course and it wouldn't work, and eventually you figure
out that it's the issue mentioned above... Grrr!

If anybody has got a suggestion, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Regards,

Alexandre Cop.
