I found this also, but (always a but), I'm finding it is happening with the
Flash Asset Xtra 8.0r178 which comes with version 8. I need to look into
Clars finding of the static property.

I hit this one early this year on a D7 project. There were serious memory
leaks in the FlashAsset Xtra until v7.0.2r140. Repeated opening of Flash
members (in my case external swiffs loaded into a MIAW) made the movies bog
down and eventually die of RAM suffication.
Technote #14017 told me to use the newer version of the Xtra, and the memory
problems subsided.
