Hi Jon
Depending on where you want to start there are quite a few really good books
out there, if your just starting out you might want to get something like:
Director 8 Demystified by Roberts/Gross (at least Version 7 was written by
them)
Then there is the 2 volume set (emphasis on set) by Bruce Epstein and
published by O'Reilly
Director in a Nutshell and Lingo in a Nutshell see Bruce's website
http://www.zeusprod.com for information and some free sample chapters.
If you want to get into Game development then definitely check out Gray
Rosenzwieg's Advanced Lingo for Games.
These are just a few of the essential books in my library. I believe Gary
Rosenzwieg has at least one other book on Director but I don't know its
title.
If you have a previous programming background like C++ you might want to
pick up Peter Small's Lingo Sorcery but I can't say its an easy book to
understand and it does focus on D6.5. Its more or less the only book on the
market that deals in Object Oriented Programming with respect to Director
but its style is difficult to comprehend.
Sincerely
Mark
