Hi List!

Here are some graphics issues in Director that I am embarassingly unclear
about and am hoping someone can clear up. Thanx in advance.

1. Say we're doing an interactive where we need to import some members at
32-bit cuz we need the alpha channels. But we're running the movie in 16 bit
cuz at 32bit it takes forever to draw some frames (even during authoring).
Also we want to import many small graphics on the fly, and we're thinking
these could be 8 bit with their own palettes.

so the questions are:
1. Is it acceptable (or even a good idea) to run movies at one bitdepth
while the graphics are in various depths?
2. when importing members on the fly, is there any way to specify the depth
(as you can when importing in authormode) and get the palettes get imported
too? (For some reason, "the filename of member" and "importFileInto"
commands are linking/importing images at 16 bit regardless of the actual
depth of the image or the depth of the stage.)

Thanx
d
