I don't think the app is corrupt. I've had this happen a few times over the
years and it always ends up being the syntax of the call to open the PDF
with the application. I'm not by my PC right now to get the exact syntax,
but when I would click on the pdf it worked fine, when Director opened the
doc using the app, the app would open, but NO doc.

I think its: 

open the pathname&"whatever_directory\AcroRd32.exe "& the pathname
"whatever_directory\your.pdf"

When I would get the syntax right it always solved the problem and worked
fine.
