This may not be the best forum to ask this, but it's one of the best
collection of technical minds on a single list, so I hope you don't mind :-)
I need to decide whether to do a project in Shockwave or Flash, and I don't
know Flash well enough to make the decision.
We're putting up a Web page with 30 "play" buttons, each of which will play
a short sound (a single word).
I've done this sort of thing in Shockwave before, as a single movie. It has
to be a single movie, because each movie launches an instance of the
Shockwave player. It wouldn't do to have 30 instances of the player
running, using 200K each.
So, the question is, does Flash have the same problem? If I put 30 Flash
buttons on an html page, am I going to chew up the user's RAM?
I won't go into the gory details, but the design precludes doing this as a
single Flash movie.
Cordially,
Kerry Thompson
