>Why would you want multiple flash or shockwave movies?
I don't. My boss does. We won't know until runtime how many words there
are, so our xsl code has to read the xml file, find the number of words,
and create, on the fly, n / 30 audio pages. The number will grow as we add
more words.
My solution is to write a Shockwave movie that reads the same xml file,
gets an html parameter that tells it which page it's on, create n buttons,
resize the stage, link to the audio files, and be done with it.
She thought it might be easier to do most of that processing in xslt. We'd
create n Flash buttons with Generator, and put them up in a nice html
table. Sorting and that sort of stuff is easy with xsl--but of course, it's
easy with Director, too.
She would probably be right, too, about the ease of coding. She's certainly
right about exploring the options--she's actually a pretty good boss.
I had my doubts, though, about putting that many Flash movies on a page,
and was looking for some confirmation that it would cause a problem.
Cordially,
Kerry Thompson
