>How devious of you Kerry, to recommend a newbie to get entangled in Miaws.
Well, there has to be some initiation rite, doesn't there? Knowing how to
pronounce MIAW is sort of like our secret Masonic handshake.
Seriously, there are other options. He said he wanted to open new windows,
and a MIAW is the only reasonable way I can think of. Certainly not a MUI.
However, you can *simulate* windows with plain old sprites (this is for the
original poster, not gurus like you, Jakob :-). Just have a background
sprite that looks like an open window, and overlay the video sprite. I do
that sort of thing all the time for Shockwave, which doesn't allow MIAWs,
for help screens and the like. My "Close" button just moves the whole
contraption off-screen to locH=-1000.
And just a helpful hint to newcomers. Be as specific as you can without
rambling on (like I'm doing). Specific questions tend to get answered. If
your question is too broad, or too vague, the best you can hope for is a
broad or vague answer, or perhaps a url or DOUG reference.
Cordially,
Kerry Thompson
