>1). When you marked it as download if needed, did it find the
>Xtra?

No error--it looks like it downloads it. It's strange, though--when I look
in Windows/System/Macromed/Shockwave 8/Xtras, I see a lot of other Xtras,
but not XMLParser.X32.

You get that little "downloading" dialog box when you mark it to download,
and it definitely did that, progress bar and all.

>2). Did you try to uncheck the box... and then save and compact the movie,
>then go back in and recheck it?

Not until you suggested it :-) Same result, though.

One anomaly, though. In my Shockwave.ini file, I put the classic lines:
MessageWindow=1
DisplayFullLingoErrorText=1

I'm getting the full error text, but not the message window. I have
installed the public beta of the new Shockwave player, though, and I
understand they did away with the message window for security reasons. So,
I can't tell for sure exactly when it's failing.

>do you have an active internet connection and does it require any proxy
>settings

I'm working at home, on an active DSL line, no proxy. Stranger and
stranger--Director's proxy settings are correct.

>4). Did you try to hit the url ... does it error out

Didn't try that before. It errors out, but you would expect that, wouldn't
you? The URL tells Shockwave where to go to get the Xtra, but I would
expect feeding the raw URL, even with the package name, wouldn't do much in
a browser.

>5). Did you hit a tree on the way down the side of a mountain while skiing

No, but I got really, really sunburned. Good thing I was wearing my fleece
hat :-) (no other protection up there)

>my humour is worsse than normal :-)

Your humour is ok... no worsse than your spelling ;-)
