It's really an extremely simple workaround. It's for a kiosk project, where
one of the touchscreens needs to run a pre-fab database application (some
kind of a VB app that was made by someone else, and we didn't even know
until now about it's existence. Installation is going on as we speak...).
The problem is that it's not our usual full-screen projector, which means
that anyone can just quit the app. So the developer (who's question I
relayed here) thought that the best thing would be to have director
constantly check if the app is open, and if not then use the "open" command.
Instead, the workaround is to have a full screen director projector sitting
on the stage, with the words "click to launch" (and the exitLock set to
True). Fortunately, it's one of the applications that only launches one
instance of itself, so it actually works fine. It also has the added benefit
of bringing the app to the front if it's not the active window or minimised.
It's not pretty, but it works.
