I often use full screen Windows projectors and splash screens work fine with them.
One other thing that might be helpful is that a
.bmp only works on Windows, on a mac it has to be a .pct.

The splash screen feature has now been documented in a TechNote.

"How to use an image as a splash screen for a projector" (TechNote 14955)
http://www.macromedia.com/go/14955

The one issue that I'm aware of, that I think hasn't been mentioned yet in this
thread. It is that a full screen Windows projector
will not show the splash screen.

<snip>

It should work, but yes, I think it's undocumented, meaning maybe it
breaks sometimes.
