Hi Gang,

This is borderline off topic but I'm stuck so please bare with me.

Hybrid CD-ROM project with Quicktime 5 movies using the Sorenson 3 codec
with Quicktime 5, Director 8.5 on a Dell Windows NT are misbehaving. The
audio plays but the video doesn't. I have some lingo that monitors the
movietime for the user and it movies along nicely, but the video itself just
stays on the first frame of the quicktime.

Now if I invoke an alert box or alt-tab to switch windows and come back to
the projector then the stage gets refreshed and the video starts playing. If
So I add code to force this refresh then it plays but I now get a big video
frame flash with the quicktime sprite. ( ie, the stagecolor = the
stagecolor)

Now I typically have a Quicktime paused on the stage
and wait 1 or 2 seconds then start playing with sprite(x).movierate = 1 etc.
This usually eliminates any startup stutter. Initially my client gave me
these videos with audio on the first frame which was naturally causing some
audio stuttering. So I cut and paste the first frame into the beginning of
the quicktime to allow some "quiet" time for the video to preload etc. I
then did an "export movie" etc. with "QuickTime Player". This may or may not
have anything to do with it since my client mentioned some other QT's with
no audio also fail to start playing properly.

TIA,
Randy
