>Does that mean you still have some Flash problems?
Yes--they're pretty esoteric. I've told Macromedia about them, so they'll probably be fixed at some point (yeah, right). First, understand that the project I took over uses Flash too much (in my opinion). In some of the activities, it's almost like Director is just a substrate for Flash, and there's a lot of messages flying back and forth. The guy who started the project taught Flash at a local community college, and he kinda likes it. So, bugs. 1. Some activities with very large, very active Flash sprites will absorb some keystrokes before they get to Director, even if the Flash sprite is marked "pass events always." The worst case is when it absorbs the alt key on Windows. We have this nice key handler object that checks every keystroke, and is *supposed* to catch alt-F4 and send you to the MWM credits screen. The Flash asset Xtra apparently, in some cases, intercepts this alt-F4 and dumps you directly to the desktop. 2. Character corruption. Our product is bilingual, English and Spanish. We keep our text in a database, which we import into #text cast members. We then use value() to convert the text to property lists--e.g., a newspaper with the headline, date, and body text in English and Spanish. We pass part of the list to Flash using setVariable--say, the headline--and then send Flash off to do its animation with goToFrame. In certain cases, high ANSI characters are corrupted. Not only does Flash display them wrong, it actually corrupts the original list in Director. We can see it happen in the debugger--the setVariable command corrupts the Director list. Like I said, you'd have to really use a lot of Flash to see this. But it does happen. I'll show you while you're out here. Oh, and don't worry about the keys. The junkies outside know how to get in.
