also expects they will be gone soonish. Who knows? This is a medium-term

After centuries of Chinese land / resources management, apparently, they do
need new
lands, free of toxin, etc.
Most of the west of China has very few people and is toxin free.
As for the toxin. They put it there they need to fix it. Why should they get
to wreck their own land and just move somewhere else?
Not so different from many areas of the world. And, apparently,
with proper management of our supposed desert areas, together with sufficient
top-end
wet-season water (and geothermal-power desal-plants) Aussie deserts can be
productive
and indeed flourish with care. It would be a new start for the smart and
talented Chinese.
You think they'd stop there? Have you heard of the Brisbane line? You want to give part of Australia away to a hostile
totalitarian government? Really?
It certainly sounds like a win / win to me 😊
The land is owned. I don't think the owners would view it as a win.
