If China has a water problem then Australia isn't much different. And the top-end and west of the continent mostly belongs to, and is highly valued by, the original inhabitants.
The Aussie 'fair go' etc is self-serving crap, c.f. the original inhabitants and the many Asian-descent people in the north-west from colonial days. There is a lot of the world the Chinese - if they wanted - could 'just take'. They have actually spent most of their history deliberately avoiding major excursions of that kind, very much unlike our masters, the Brits and Americans.
