IMHO, like with much of today's opaque technology it is all about trust.

If you do something yourself, you know what your priorities are. If you 
don't, you have no one else to blame but yourself.

If you get someone else to do something for you, there will always be 
competing priorities. How much do you trust them to do the "right thing" 
by you?
