A messages manual is a very nice resource that lists the 8 character IBM message codes with (often extensive and helpful) descriptions. This kind of thing doesn't exactly fit in the scheme of Linux error messages, as they are considered to be relatively self-contained. This would be a nice thing for Linux to have, but at this point in time would be a documentation nightmare and might require patches to the kernel, glibc, etc.
