Gordon,

I believe that option just sets an environment variable that something like
lynx would use. I don't think Konqueror even looks at it. Try explicitly
setting the proxy name in the options for Konqueror and see if that gets
things working for you.

Subject: Can't use web proxies

Using SuSE SLES7 under z/VM 4.2, we have a strange problem.

the /etc/rc.config file is set up to point to out proxy server to get to
sites outside our intranet.
When we use either Konqueror or Lynx within KDE2, also set up to use the
proxy server, the connection just times out. I can ping the proxy-server
from Linux.

I can use Charlotte from the underlying VM system to go out to the web at
large through the proxy server with no problem, and of course browsers on
all sorts of workstations can go out through the browser. This is something
unique with Linux/390.

We're using VCTCA's to talk from VM to Linux. The VM machine(s) are on one
subnet and all the linux servers are on another. Of course, I can't get to
the logs on the proxy server to see what's happening.

For the life of me, it feels like I've missed a configuration file
somewhere. anyone have any ideas?
