Question: How do I get my zSeries server enabled for FCP for Linux on
              zSeries?

Answer: Currently FCP enablement on the zSeries is offered
with limited
availability for customer test and development purposes only.
In order to
get FCP enabled on new or existing z800 and z900 servers,
customers must
complete the "Fibre Channel Protocol (FCP) for Linux
z800/z900 Request
Form" available in the IBM Resource Link? planning section
              (ibm.com/servers/resourcelink/? registration required; from
the left
navigation bar, select Planning). This form should be
available June 15th.
Once the request is accepted, FCP enablement will be
delivered in a free
Licensed Internal Code update along with documentation and a
statement
              of limitations.

Once Linux distributors provide distributions of Linux that
contain the
requisite FCP zSeries drivers, the special request form for
zSeries FCP will
no longer be required. The form will be removed from IBM
Resource Link,
and the Licensed Internal Code will be integrated into new
zSeries orders
and placed on Retain for existing machines.

Please note, the FCP Licensed Internal Code load through the
early limited
availability and later through Retain system will be
disruptive. System
              outages should be planned accordingly.

Scott: I think the FAQ may have been premature. I believe it should have
said the patches would be available when the LIC is available, which is
June 15. It may be available earlier and I am sure the lab will post the
availability info on this list.
