We're currently have SuSE Linux/390 in an LPAR. Management is asking about
z/VM and I really know very little about it.
If we get z/VM to run Linux/390 as guests, what else would be required (not
just desirable) beyond the base z/VM, e.g. RACF or Top Secret, etc?

I just took an IBM class last week (ZV050, VM Basic for Linux) that
seems to be a good introduction. It's a two-day class.
I thought that it'd be oriented to help those of us w/ non-mainframe
skills (AIX and Linux admins and the like) but it was tougher for me than
some of the others who had zOS backgrounds. While not detailed in
networking stuff, it was a pretty good intro into the world of VM install
and administration.
If you've got z/OS skills you'll have very little trouble getting
through the material.
