You can also (temporarily) add the unstable distribution to /etc/apt/sourcs.list and then use apt-get -t unstable install evms evms-cli evms-gui evms-ncurses to install version 1.0.1. If you've set up apt-pinning [1] you can tell apt to always use the latest versions of some packages while sticking with the stable base system.
