Hi,

A recent attempt to install DB2 for Linux390 from the IBM developers toolkit has
created some issues for me.
Namely when running the ./db2setup script I receive the following message:

./db2inst: error while loading shared libraries:
            libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3

I asked IBM for assistance and they indicate that there is a missing symbol in the
newer library.
IBM's reply:
                Hello Jim:
                .
With the SuSE Linux Enterprise server installation, there are two
available distribution variants, the regular 2-CD SuSE Linux Enterprise
                Server 7 (SLES-7) and the 7-CD SLES-7 Developers' Edition.
                .
The 2 CD installation will install only the most recent version of
the libstdc++ (libc6.2.2.2.10). The 7 CD installation will also
install
older versions of this library (LIBSTDC++ COMPAT library).
                .
In this particular case, the libc6.2.2.2 is missing a symbol required
by
DB2 for Linux on s390 that is contained in the older libc6.1.2.2

I installed from the 2-CD collection and would prefer not doing a complete reinstall
just to find an older version of the C++ compiler. My C++ compiler is
/usr/lib/libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.so. What is this COMPAT library that IBM
referrers to?
Has anyone run into this and have a solution, or can someone point me to what needs to
be installed to satisfy this requirement. I do have the SLES7 developers edition but
can not find the recommended library.
