THe Berkeley db stuff is no where near robust enough to take the place of a mainframe
VSAM implementation. We would like to use the
Informix C-ISAM, but that is not available for Linux/390.
(yet.)

I looked at the FairCom Server and C-TREE stuff, which is very very good, but again,
it is not currently available under Linux/390.
There is also D-ISAM, which is an implementation of a Vax RMS system. Another very
good product indeed.

Well, I'll keep on looking around; if anyone comes up with a free, low cost, or open
source set of ISAM stuff, let me know please.
:)

Thanks
-Paul
