Well, that's why I'm asking.   Tried that already.  No luck.  The
sysprogs insist that everything is in order on their end.  CHPIDs
defined as both 3172 and SCTC (total of 4, actually) but none show up in
/proc/subchannels in linux.  even after rebooting linux.
