I believe you need OS/390 2.10 or above to be able to use ADRDSSU with CDL DASD for a backup solution. Here's a 'how-to' http://www.storage.ibm.com/software/sms/dss/linux_dump_restore.html
Also, I was a bit unclear on what your move entails, but if you are just 'upgrading' DASD (e.g. - moving DASD from one physical box to another, and merely cloning the UCBs), your DASD vendor probably has a utility that will move the data from the old box to the new one. Good luck, Paul ================================================================= From: "McKown, John" Subject: Re: Moving Linux Volumes If you are using CDL (Compatable Disk Layout) volumes on Linux, then you should be able to use either ADRDSSU or FDR, if you are current on maintenance, to copy these volumes using OS/390. Make sure that the associated Linux system is DOWN! CDL has a VTOC that OS/390 can recognize. This VTOC has 1 to 3 "data sets" on it that represent the Linux partitions on the volume. This "data set" entry indicates that the entire area is "in use", so make sure to use ALLEXCP and ALLDATA(*) on the ADRDSSU control card. -- John McKown Senior Technical Specialist UICI Insurance Center Applications & Solutions Team +1.817.255.3225

How do I copy the 3 volumes to the new devices?? Other LPAR's are OS/390. No VM. ------------- -jcf
