Compare the costs of five minutes of downtime on each of the platforms.

My guess, without research, is that the cost is greater for S/390 and
zSeries systems becaue they tend to have more people depending on them.

I suspect that PC users would baulk at paying a fair price for
well-tested desktop software; how many use Windows 9x-family instead of
Windows NT-family OS in the office?


Linux is a no-contest winner on the PC because relatively many of those
affected with problems know they should not occur, and are relatively
well-placed to fix them themselves.
