How did you manage to get a VTOC index on the volumes? Why would you want
one?

Also, VM still owns cylinder 0 of your volume, so what ever _it_ puts there
is what MVS will see. If you want to assign the whole volume, then that's
another matter.

Subject: CDL & Minidisk combo not working - VTOC FREE SPACE ERRORS

I created a minidisk for LINUX like this:

 MDISK 151 3390 0001 3338 LXAD41 MR

Then I installed SLES8 on to that mdisk
and chose CDL format.
(side note: there are MVS VTOC INDEXES on these volumes also)

On my OS/390 2.9 system...I can not successfully
display the VTOC for this volume ???

I get FREE SPACE ERRORS...even got some CVAF errors and dumps during MVS
IPL.

Any ideas why???
