If load from the HMC doesn't work, then you're stuck with plan C:

files are on the redhat CD
3480 or 3490 attached to the LPAR
1 OSA card (preferably OSA/LCS as RH has some trouble with QDIO)
connection from the OSA to a network to a machine where you can mount
the CD's as NFS or FTP.
I found the OSA/LCS and FTP options worked the best for me for redhat.
