As others have already pointed out, there is THE, which is an Xedit clone
for Linux that is open source. It works well, but it not always available on
all Linux systems.

A good place for new Xedit users to start, I would think, is to read Chapter
20 in Bob DuCharme's "Operating System's Handbook" which can be found on the
Web at: http://www.snee.com/bob/opsys/part5vmcms.pdf. Xedit is a 3270 full
screen application and Bob's book has numerous screen shots showing what an
Xedit session really looks like. After reading this matter, all of the IBM
Xedit manuals and reference material will make sense to you.
