an STK/Silo that I ran 5 Years Ago had VM, MVS, Honeywell, and Unisys all
accessing tapes in the Silo's the difficulty was the tape drives and keeping
only one system connected at a time. We dedicated drives to each system, but
things have probably changed since than.

Subject: VTS/ATL Performance

We're in the process of upgrading our tape storage (many 3480's, I
know, don't laugh too hard) along with a mainframe upgrade (9672-r26 to
2066-0a2). IBM has put together a VTS/ATL solution, STK's first proposal
was a VSM/SILO which was vastly more expensive then the VTS/ATL. STK is now
putting together a VSM/9740 proposal. Has anyone had any experiences with
the VSM/9740 and if so will it perform up to the VTS/ATL. Thanks

Ps. We'd also like to use the virtual/library for backing up our Unisys,
UNIX and NT environments.
