I would certainly be interested to hear of any solution for Linux that
would let it participate in the silo environment. I think what you'll find
is that you'll have to use an archival system, such as Tivoli or the
equivalent, to backup the data and the achival system then interface with
the silo.
If you've noticed in the thread on tapes, Linux is not quite up to snuff as
far as tape handling is concerned. The silos are driven by software on the
hosts in some fashion or another.
