For a project, I'm working on a 3 inch by 3 inch square board system by
Automated Factory Systems. A low-power complete 128M system based on a
mobile Pentium(with 500M of USB-style memory stick solid-state disk) is
3x3x4", which includes 4 USB ports, a 10/100 Ethernet port and a standard
IDE floppy port (mostly useful for booting). You need a dongle for KVM
access, but it makes a very nice little Linux box. Runs for weeks on a 12V
DC supply. It's a bit RFI noisy at the moment, but a good metal box should
fix that.

I've seen systems as small as a common matchbox, but they're not very
useful.
