There are also tools similar to fetchmail for hotmail and yahoo (I use
"gotmail" to transfer mail out of my hotmail id to a local host for actual
responses. Stick it in cron to run every hour or so, and watch the mail roll
in).

Also, if you're running in this configuration, consider configuring sendmail
or postfix to use the SW Bell mail server as a "smart host". That way you
get local queuing if for some reason they stop accepting mail, and your
applications continue to work properly. Most of the Linux distributions have
prebuilt configuration files for this sort of setup, or there's a menu
option in yast or equivalent to set up "route all my outgoing mail through a
designated host".
