Although I'm very much a fan of DB2, do you know that Informix does run on Linux for zSeries? If you really want to convert that's great, but factored into your costs should be training for DBA's, et al for DB2 care and feeding. Unless of course they are already well versed (or enough to be comfortable with converting).
