The problem with "wait state" codes in Linux is that they convey very little
information. Do you have what went to the "IPL console" (3270)? If this was
autologged, then try logging on "by hand" and see what messages come across
the guest's 3270. Most likely, the Kernel panic'ed due to a filesystem error
or something like that.
