My understanding is that the update 1 is a disk 1 update only. It takes
the place of RHEL 3 disk 1. As for the pulling a kernel and making a new
initrd, I would love to do that but if I recall correctly, if I make a new
kernel, which I believe is what is being suggested, Red Hat will no longer
provide support.

Can I proceed to perform the install using the update1 disk1-4 ISO images?
I
down loaded that at the same time I downloaded the BASE Disk1-4 ISO
images.

It is believed that this problem is resolved with UPDATE 1 of RHEL 3. I
am
preparing to test this myself as I have the same problem and a report has
been opened with bugzilla. Red Hat has forwarded me the following Link to
obtain a copy of update 1. You may want to talk to your RH rep.
Thanks!

Subject: NO DASD on RHEL AS 3
Here is a better description of my problem.
I am building a new RHEL AS 3 system from Linux version 2.4.21-4.EL (Red
Hat
Linux 3.2.3-20)
I put all the networking configuration information in, and I can connect
to
the new initial ram disk system.
I supply the DASD device numbers of "151,200,201,202,203"
I then LOGN to ROOT on the initial system and see some of the following on
the system console
dasd(eckd): ECKD discipline initializing

At this point I start the install process. Select the NFS Setup option.
Then
after id mounts the NFS Disk I get this prompt:

I select yes, Then I get this prompt

But the only driver I see is for S/390 Channel to Channel (ctc)
