I would avoid using Samba. It mangles the symbolic links and you will get crazy results. We just tar.gz 'd the file and ftp'd it up that's the safest way to do it, IMHO.

You may need to twiddle the mount parameters so that you get case-insensitive filenames; I seem to recall this being a problem with DB2 a couple years ago.
