It's provided as DVD-image for two reasons. a) if you run real iron, it's easier to just loop mount the DVD-image for remote installation b) if you run under hercules, it's just easier to loop mount the DVD-image for remote installation With 2-3 ISO-images/disks you'd be forced to do nasty things anyway to make it look like 'one huge installation tree'. Same applies for 2-3 CDs. No pun intended, but i don't frankly care about windows and how hard it's under windows. Not even if anything works under windows - i am beoynd that already. Another thing would be once again, the TDF-file. It's not needed for recent hercules at all. There is that 'generic.ins' at root. You should just modiffy the path right (if not working right out of the box) and do 'ipl generic.ins' which should do the magic. The CTC-driver will still hang when you do select the installation method. The easy fix is to keep line .ifconfig ctc0 down ; ifconfig ctc0 up ; route add default gw <GW-IP> handy and paste that to hercules console when the reset occurs. Sometimes three times before it gets up again (depens of the timing IMO). The installation of this update2 release is tested ONLY under hercules. I know it's wortking under hercules, but didn't bother to waste cycles on real iron to test if it's working there (up to date updated guest under z/VM is working, but the actual installation is not tested). There were try to do some 'BASE protection' against 3rd party repositories not being able to update BASE-system packages. Unfortunately that depends of the Vendor-string of the tao-release. I have different vendor tags all over the packages, so it's not working for Tao. I intend to recompile whole thing before update3 to have all correct vendor tags, but that's still few months ahead ..... Something else, i forget now ..... happy hacking with Tao. If there is even one user beoynd myself, it's not waste of time keeping it updated :) -- Pasi Pirhonen - [EMAIL PROTECTED] - http://iki.fi/upi/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
