How about a new command SET DRIFT. This could used by a LINUX image running NTP. Couple this with a new directory option USEDRIFT and other LINUX images could use the value and CMS machines which don't tolerate such thing as backwards running time would not be affected. The time calculation would be returned_time = VM_time + VTOD_offset [+ drift].
