If its a modern release (for example Fedora if the PC side can be the
freebie version) then it should take about two hours (allowing 1.5 hours
for non 'CD operator' tasks). That bit is if anything easier than
feeding Windows to a PC nowdays. If you aren't used to Linux then
post install you'll need a fair bit of time to get oriented.

I had a dig around and Dag has packages prebuilt for Hercules in rpm
format (ready to install package files) that can be installed with one
command. That should also make life easier for you.
