SuSE SLES-9 natively supports installing onto FCP disk. The redbook you mentioned actually describes how to work around the SLES-8 install and get YaST to install directly onto an FCP disk. It's a hack, but it works.
The same approach might also work for RHEL-3 U3 if they have included the zfcp driver in the U3 installer kernel & initrd. This is well documented in Redbook sg246344. I didn't read anything that explains how (or if you can) install a fresh image onto an FCP drive. Any thoughts?
