It's worth noting that she herself received death threats after the article was published. It's not just the "pro-SCO's" who are capable of sliminess.
Indeed. Interesting, and sad. I've enjoyed reading MOG's headlines for quite some time. Never got a hint that she was Pro-SCO until this Groklaw scuffle.
In balance, I've relished everything that I've had time to read from Groklaw. But I've always been bothered by PJ's "secrety identiy" fixation. (Not that there aren't real concerns that would keep one from being completely open.)
So ... really ... WHO is the slimier here? Gotta wonder if it is (forgive me) a bit of a cat fight.
Oh, I don't think there's much to wonder about.
What possible motive could Ms. O'Gara have for publishing the addresses of the person she believes to be PJ--or possibly to have had her identity stolen by PJ, except that then the claim that phone calls from that apartment have been placed to Utah and Canopy Group don't make any sense at all--except, of course, the same reason that anti-abortion groups publish the names and addresses of doctors performing abortions?
And then to publish her mother's address? Oh, yes, MOG's done an excellent job of not doing anything quite actionable--after all, she's not actually *saying* "who will rid me of this troublesome PJ?" (you might want to imagine her here as a sock puppet, with Darl McBride's hand where it don't really belong)--but I think the implication is clear.
While PJ's done, what, exactly? Been obsessive and paranoid about keeping her identity secret? Well, that and really, really pissed off SCO and Canopy group by deconstructing their every duplicitous legal move?
I can see why PJ might be in legitimate fear for her life. I'm not at all sure that I believe that Val Kriedel's death was a suicide.
I mean, seriously, RIck, you have to ask which of the two is slimier?
