I don't think that a software suspend will make the volume consistent. I could be wrong, but I don't think it actually unmounts the volume, so there can still be stuff in buffers. The buffers are in kernel memory, which is saved to disk, but they may not be synced to the filesystem.

I was thinking that it might be a fast way to shutdown a guest for CDL backup without the backups being fuzzy and in theory then, restart and have it be exactly where it left off. Of course I'd have to figure out how to have SA/390 talk to VM to then re-ipl the guest..... but is this in theory feasible? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
