I'm migrating a Linux guest from SLES 8 to SLES 9. I created a new SLES 9 guest and copied the configuration information I needed for the application. In order to test LVM I've attached all the DASD read-only to the new SLES 9. But when I do a PVSCAN or LVSCAN it only shows 10 of the 12 volumes. I know that they are attached and a cat of /proc/dasd/devices shows them as active.
But if I do a pvdisplay /dev/dasdb1 I get Failed to read physical volume "/dev/dasdb1" Any ideas? Possibly the difference between LVM on SLES 8 & SLES 9?
