There are lots of network tools and services that don't react well if
you don't have:
1. 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
2. primary.ip.address hostname.domain.name hostname

in /etc/hosts.  Line #1 is absolutely required.  Line #2 is _strongly_
recommended.
