I just went round and round with that Tom, for DB2 Connect. IBM's response is that I need 64 bit DB2 Connect for SLES 9 64 bit. I could not for love nor money get the DB2 Connect 8.2 disk that I have to install on SLES 9. This includes (and will attempt to install unless told otherwise) DB2 UDB as well.
IBM had this to say on the subject: DB2 is supported on SLES 8 and SLES 9. Its likely that an attempt was made to install the 31-bit media on a 64-bit Linux/390 system which would not work. Supported Distributions of Linux. http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/db2/linux/validate/ The installation media can be downloaded from the Passport Advantage website. If you require the actual installation CD's then please contact your IBM DB2 representative. I'll be going after that via passport advantage, as we're licensed. Looks like you gotta talk to your Big Blue Guy. Tom Duerbusch <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent by: Linux on 390 Port <[email protected]> To [email protected] cc 03/28/2006 12:12 PM Subject 31 bit DB2? Please respond to Linux on 390 Port <[email protected]> I've been trying to install a 31 bit DB2 instance under SLES9 (in this case, the 64 bit flavor). I went to the DB2 UDB Enterprise Server Edition V8.2 Trial site: https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/iwm/web/reg/download.do?source=db2udbese82&S_TACT=105AGX28&S_CMP=DLMAIN&S_PKG=dl&cp=UTF-8 I've downloaded: DB2 UDB ESE V8.2 for for Linux on zSeries systems which gave me: ese_db2linux39064_v82_try_buy.tar.gz The next effect of the install is that I keep bringing up a 64 bit DB2, not a 31 bit. That is even when I specify a "-w 31" parm (to select the installation word size). When I looked at the ".rpm"s that were loaded, I find that they are all "s390x.rpm", and no "s390.rpm". Sound like I only have 64 bit code.... So, the question I'm posing, is where can I get a trial of 31 bit code? I need 31 bit as I need to test out with V7 clients which only work with 31 bit code. Worst case, I can go back to my DB2 for VM and VSE CDs that contain DB2/UDB V7 database code. But all the installation manuals I've found so far, have dealt with V8 DB2/UDB code. So, is there a magical place where I can get current, 31 bit code?
