Which sounds like you're using Microsoft's telnet client. Ugh.
Download PuTTY (http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/) and
use that. You'll be much happier, and it will provide you with an SSH
client as well, which you will want to use instead of telnet. (Insecure
telnet, i.e. non-SSL enabled, is a really ugly security exposure.)

I'm not sure what you mean by "FTP the images down." Are you saying
that you selected the FTP installation method? If so, when it has the
things it needs to continue the installation, it will do so. If you're
doing this from the Internet, though, you're probably in for a _very_
long wait. If you think you'll need to do this again, it would behoove
you to download the software onto a local system, and use that as your
installation source.

messed up!

I am using a standard IBM PC THINKCENTER with XP.
I am just going to continue on but it is difficult.
I am FTP the images down.
How do I know when the FTPs are finished?

Is there something on the LINUX master console message I should look
for?

thanks

What telnet client are you using, and what terminal type are you
specifying (or is defaulting) to be used?
