I have success with a SLES 10 parmfile which contains:

ramdisk_size=65536 root=/dev/ram1 ro init=/linuxrc TERM=dumb

Broadcast=141.202.200.255 Gateway=141.202.200.101 HostIP=141.202.200.124

Hostname=linux024.ca.com Install=ftp://130.200.16.136/sles10/cd1
Nameserver=141.202.1.92 Netmask=255.255.255.0 Password=whatever

Username=anonymous UseVNC=1 VNCPassword=whatever

Layer2=0

Portname=INTRANET

ReadChannel=0.0.0c00 WriteChannel=0.0.0c01 DataChannel=0.0.0c02

And in particular, I have problems if (in addition to the above) I
include:

InstNetDev=osa OsaInterface=eth OsaMedium=qdio

By skipping these three parm settings I -do- have to answer "1" to three
prompts during the install process:

Please select the type of your network device.

1) OSA-2 or OSA Express
2) Hipersockets
--------------------
3) Channel To Channel (CTC)
4) ESCON
5) Inter-User Communication Vehicle (IUCV)

> 1

Please choose the CCW bus interface.

1) QDIO
2) LCS

> 1

Please choose the physical medium.

1) Ethernet
2) Token Ring

> 1

However the rest of the prompts can be answered with mere taps of the
enter key because the settings from the parm file are used. (In
particular, the annoying "0.0.0x00" answers for the addresses of the OSA
adapter.

I'll also mention that it seems that if you -do- use OSA devices in the
upper hex ranges you cannot encode the parm file with:

ReadChannel=0.0.0C00       upper-case

You must encode:

ReadChannel=0.0.0c00       mixed-case

Although the doc says the parm names are not case sensitive, certainly
the values seem to be.
